TOP 20 TIPS
Our years photographing hundreds of Weddings have given us
a unique insight into helping your special day run smoothly.
You might not find most of these on the average Wedding Day
Planner but they are often over looked simplicities that,
from a photographic point of view, make all the difference
to your day.
- Timing is one of the most important aspects of your Wedding
Day plans. Before you 'lock yourself into' a service time
please ask for our advice. To create sensational, memorable
photographs we need both time and light to work with. Once
we know your chosen locations we will be able to suggest
the optimum timing for your day to enable us to achieve
the best results possible. As a general rule your service
will need to be at least three hours before sunset or two
hours for a smaller garden service.
- We will be able to advise how long you need to book your
Bridal cars for once we know all your location choices.
Its important not to cut yourself short on this or the car
and driver may accept a second booking and need to depart
before you are finished with them.
- Make sure your flowers are delivered to the Bride at
least one hour before your photography is due to start.
This way if they are running a little late they will not
cause delays.
- Pamper yourself on your Wedding day. Do not take on extra
tasks such as doing the bridesmaids make-up, decorating
the room or creating floral displays. Spend your time getting
ready slowly with a minimum of stress.
- Get ready with as few unnecessary people around as you
can, where possible restrict it to your bridesmaids, flower
girls and Mother. Try not to have lots of extra relatives
around, more people mean more stress and longer queues for
the bathroom.
- Choose to get ready in a picturesque setting. A friends
house may be a better choice than your own.
- Many of the Hotels and Resorts will allow you an early
check in option on your Wedding night room and will make
up the room again so that it is neat and tidy for your return.
- We strongly recommend that hairdressers and make-up artists
come to you. We can refer you to some if yours doesn't offer
this service. This is so much more convenient then racing
around to salons keeping appointments.
- Have a trial hair and make-up before your day so that
you know you'll be happy with everything. Have your nails
done the day BEFORE your wedding.
- Some girls are tempted to wear body glitter. We do not
recommend this. Although it might look pretty to the eye,
it reflects the light in photographs and can make skin tones
look blotchy.
- If you are wearing bridal hosiery we suggest you try
it on prior to the day to make sure that the leg length
suits you.
- Remember to take your lipstick and powder compact with
you for touch ups during the photo shoot. A matte finish
make-up photographs the best. We bring some basics with
us but your own will obviously be a perfect match. We can
carry your make-up with us in our camera bags if necessary.
- Organize a small repair kit for emergencies. Include
pins, needles, thread, safety pins, scissors even a tube
of super glue can come in handy.
- Be cautious near car tyres. They are the main culprit
for marks on Bridal gowns. Many of the hire cars will have
them 'blacked' for the day and the dress will need to be
protected from this. Most of the reputable limousine companies
will have a wheel cover that they will put on one tyre once
the car is parked, if not the Bridesmaids will need to guide
the dress as you get in and out.
- Delegate a family friend to organize people for the 'family
photos'. The photographer will not know your guests and
you don't want to have to runaround and find people yourself.
- Often it is a good idea to write a list of all the combinations
of people that you would like in your family and friends
photos so that someone special isn't left out. Again, this
list needs to be delegated to somebody that knows the people.
- Organize a cooler with drinks and snacks for your Bridal
Party. Include some soft drinks for thirst as well as some
alcohol to celebrate. Include some appropriate champagne
flutes (these can be plastic so that you don't have to worry
about breaking them). The cooler can be kept in the Bridal
car or the photographers car. The Bridal party will not
only be happy to start the celebrations during the photography
but will not feel like they are missing out on the reception.
(One or two of the Limousine companies provide this service
for you).
- The boys need to make sure their buttonhole flowers (
if applicable ) are in place before photography starts.
- Arrange to have your cake, complete with cake knife,
available at the reception at a suitable time. The photographer
will need this for a mock cake cutting photo.
- Let Fotoforce take all the hassle out of your Wedding
day and give you photographs that you and your families
will treasure for a lifetime.
